Song-a-Day 3: “Copernicus”

Here’s day 3! You’ll love it.

Copernicus

Once again, I recorded with acoustic guitar, snare drum w/brushes and electric bass. It’s a pretty efficient way to get the feel of the song across without a ton of studio time.

Lyrics:

Copernicus

He got into a jam
On Clinton street in the afternoon
He says it seemed like any other distribution

There were 3 more guys
In the back of the van
Spouting out delusions of persecution

But he came out with a scratch or two
He says he’s got some kind of emergent evolution

He says Copernicus
Reconsider this
I know I’m the center of it all

Copernicus
I don’t want proof of this
I should be the center of it all

He knows the way
By the railroad tracks or the street
He says it depends if you need the dark or light

But there’s a freight car
Where they squat and some deals go down
And it wouldn’t take too much to ignite

He climbs out of the ravine with a bag held tight
And talks about how he’s getting second sight

He says Copernicus
Reconsider this
I know I’m the center of it all

Copernicus
I don’t want proof of this
I should be the center of it all

Copernicus
I must insist
I refuse to revolve at all

Copernicus
I’m getting pissed
I am the center of it all
